HKU Finals and a look into the future

It is January now, finals are over, I have explored Hongkong to the fullest and started applying more and more for internships and moved to Bangkok for some quite and a room that’s actually liveable and not just a 5 sqm shoebox. This is one variable I am hesitant about moving back to Hongkong to be honest, so will see where I end up, maybe Korea or Mainland China would be a more spacious option, even though Hongkong has its own merits that drag me back to this beautiful city.

HKU EXAMS

I think this were one of the most difficult exams I ever sat, the focus at HKU apparently lays in blind remembrance of textbooks and lectures, a sharp distinction from my German university where the focus lays more on understanding concepts and applying them to a problem and thus getting a result. I have never before been asked to recite a certain case from a textbook. So on the 16th of January (today) the results got published and I passed all of my courses, which definitley gives me a confidence boost.

Now I just have to either collect my transcript in person or let it be send via snailmail to germany, as HKU doesnt provide downloadable transcripts and take 2 weeks process time until pick up/sending it out.

Exploration of Hong Kong

In the last few weeks, I got to explore Lantau Island and the Big Buddha as well as Tai O Village, Lamma Island, Cheung Chau and also take a trail up Lion Rock. The views were amazing, so let me share some more at the end of the blog entry in a image gallery. Also went to Wong Tai Sin and numerous other temples and districts, sometimes this really feels like a marathon and still I got some things left on my lift I´d like to to in Hong Kong.

Future Plans

Now the plan is to find a suitable internship in a city I enjoy being and living, a kitchen would also be a plus point, only microwave and take out food is not good forever.

Another thing is that my Sony A7III suddenly decided to quit working, so I need to get it repaired, which at the moment of moving around is more difficult, especially when Sony refuses to extend its warranty to let me repair it in Asia instead of at home in Germany. So might be a month or two until I can go out and shoot more to progress.

Until then I will work through my backlog of pictures, I took a total of 13000 pictures (650 GB) since September and edited about 1000 of them i deemed good so far, I will go through them again, review already edited images and go into more detail work, to meet my ever-rising personal quality expectations, perfectionism at its best.

And now off to the promised gallery of exploration pictures of various locations.
